About The Fund

On September 16th, 2011, at the Reno Air Races, a P-51D Mustang crashed into spectators, killing 11 people, including the pilot and injuring 69 others. It was the third deadliest air show disaster in the history of the United States. Shortly after the event, Think Kindness was contact by the Reno Air Races to assist with a big act of Kindness, to set up a fund to assist the victims and families injured by the crash.

The Family Assistance Fund is set up so 100% of the funds raised go directly to the victims and families of the 2011 event. To date, we’ve assisted in funeral costs, transportation, home modifications, andย counselingย services. However, the need is growing. It’s only been a year since the event and many families are starting to require the assistance of electric wheel chairs, vehicle modifications, and prosthetics. We are working with experts from across the country to meet the demands of the requests coming in. With this in mind, we are still collecting funds to help those still suffering from 2011 crash.
